Welcome back to the Proje’ blog! This week, we’re going old school with some of our wax products. But when we say “old school”, we don’t mean it derogatorily – these products have a great reputation and are perfect for classic vehicles because of the kind of shine they produce, more akin to those deep shines that the sports vehicles of the 1950s-70s were so famous for, than the brighter, more metallic shine that you see on modern-day sports vehicles with ceramic coatings. At Proje’, we believe in using the best possible product for each process, each vehicle, and each circumstance - and sometimes, that means reaching for the wax. Read on to find out more!
First stop - Carnauba
Carnauba wax has been used by enthusiasts and detailers for decades as the best way to create that vibrant wet shine you see in classic movies and classic car showrooms. Drawn from the native Brazilian Carnauba Palm, it works on glossy and clear paints, producing consistent and long-lasting shine while providing amazing natural protection from the elements.
Carnauba is naturally yellow, which creates that classic shine we all know and love. In the Carnauba palm, its job is to protect the leaves from the elements, which can be particularly extreme in Brazil – especially the Amazon areas. To use them in auto detailing processes, Carnauba leaves are picked and dried so that the wax can be removed in flakes, which are then expertly blended to create an automobile-friendly wax. In the Proje’ lab, we then add softening compounds to make the application and spreading process quicker and easier, allowing you to create a smoother, more even gloss on your pride and joy.
And so, that brings us to Old School Paste Wax - the highest-quality car wax you can get. We’ve really gone to town and loaded our paste wax up with Carnauba, so that you can apply it and know your vehicle is protected from everything nature can throw at it, and that smooth waxed surface provides no safe haven for insects, dust and debris. Carnauba seals and fills as you apply, so that no tiny cracks are left and no contamination or oxidation can take place, allowing you to enjoy your car with confidence.
How to Wax Your Car
Using our Old School Paste Wax is not just easy; it’s also a relaxing, therapeutic experience. Making sure to work out of direct sunlight, apply a thin coat of Old School Paste Wax directly on to a new Blue Applicator pad. We’re going to work in small sections to ensure the smoothest, most even application, so don’t use much at this stage. Then, place the face of the applicator flat on the surface of the car and, with light pressure, spread the wax onto the surface in circular patterns. The smoother your movements, the smoother the application, so mark out the area you’re going to concentrate on in your head and move in a continuous circle without stopping until you’re done.
The next step is to leave it for 3-5 minutes to cure and set, before wiping any excess off with a clean microfiber towel, then repeating these steps to complete the entire car. Remember, these old school processes work best when you take it slow and focus on achieving an even coating. The payoff for your attention is that your car will look a million bucks when you’re done.
Surge Quick Detail Spray has been designed with efficiency and results in mind. This simple-to-use formula has been specifically developed not only to enhance shine, but also rejuvenate the existing surface, leaving behind that freshly waxed look. Surge Quick Detail Spray is a dynamic product; use it as a final wipe down or as an in-between maintenance spray to clean off light layers of dirt.
No matter how experienced you are in the world of auto detailing, waxing takes time and concentration. Sometimes you either need a quick fix or you have a recently-waxed car that you want to be super-shiny for a special event. Surge Quick Detail Spray is ideal for both these scenarios, using a polymer that works on any kind of paintwork or existing wax surface to produce an immediate shine with just a spray and a wipe.
Surge Quick Detail Spray works by creating a thin protective film over your paintwork rather than a full wax coating, so that the shine is immediate and effective. As soon as you have sprayed, you can wipe and shine with no wait. Even better, as it’s a such a thin layer it works as a cleaner, meaning that you can use it straight after a full wax to wipe away any dust that might have accumulated during the waiting period mid-wax. A single wipe will quickly and smoothly remove debris, dust, fingerprints, smudges and even superficial stains, and can even be applied in the sun, making this an
Rapid Quick Wax utilizes advanced hydrophobic polymer technology to provide relentless water beading and water sheeting protection that lasts for weeks and even months. With its quick mist-on and wipe-off application, it makes it easy to wax your entire car in under 20 minutes. It will not stain plastic trim and is completely safe on all painted and non-painted surfaces.
Need for Speed
When time is of the essence, the old school way might not be for you. You might expect that a quick solution such as Rapid Quick Wax would provide a second-rate finish that would need replacing quickly – but it doesn’t! Rapid Quick Wax provides exceptional coverage and a thin but complete seal across your vehicle that buffs in to that classic wax shine and protects from water beading as effectively as heavy-duty paste wax, but for a fraction of the time and cost.
Need Something a Bit Quicker?
But look, we understand that not everyone has the time to do a full wax when they need to, and as with our ceramic products, there has to be a quicker alternative for when you’re up against it. Step forward, Rapid Quick Wax! Now, where Carnauba is incredibly effective with our Paste Wax, Rapid Quick Wax instead utilizes advanced hydrophobic polymer technology to provide relentless water beading and water sheeting protection that lasts for months. With its quick mist-on and wipe-off application, it’s easy to wax your entire car in under 20 minutes, as opposed to the 1-2 hours you’ll need for a traditional waxing process. Now, you might expect that such a quick solution would provide a second-rate finish that would need replacing quickly – but it doesn’t! Rapid Quick Wax provides exceptional coverage and a thin but complete seal across your vehicle that buffs in to that classic wax shine and protects from water beading as effectively as heavy-duty paste wax, but for a fraction of the time and cost.
Unlike with our Paste Wax, you can just mist Rapid Quick Wax straight onto the vehicle. Be as liberal as you like – it’ll spread quickly, thinly and without any streaks so there are no hard and fast rules here. Just spray, then wipe a clean microfiber towel straight across the area you’re working on. Keep the towel folded and don’t leave any time between spraying an wiping, as this is a wax product in a hurry so it dries super fast!
Once you’re done, turn the microfiber towel over to a dry section and give the panel a final wipe off to remove any excess, then move on to the next section of the car. Honestly, the whole thing will take you 10-15 minutes maximum after a couple of tries – give it a go!
Rejuvenate on the Go
But sometimes, you don’t need to go the whole hog and redo all your handiwork. Sometimes, it’s more of a touch-up job. That’s where useful products like Surge Quick Detail Spray come in. It works by creating a thin protective film over your paintwork rather than a full wax coating, so that the shine is immediate and effective. And as with our Rapid Quick Wax, as soon as you have sprayed, you can wipe and shine with no wait. Even better, as it’s a such a thin layer it works as a cleaner, meaning that you can use it straight after a full wax to wipe away any dust that might have accumulated during the waiting period mid-wax. A single wipe will quickly and smoothly remove debris, dust, fingerprints, smudges and even superficial stains, and can even be applied in the sun, making this an ideal product for use on the go.
You can spray Surge directly onto the surface of your vehicle, or onto a clean microfiber towel. Either way, it only takes 3 or 4 sprays to have enough to cover a large surface area, meaning that this really can be a 5-minute job.
Again, as you would with Rapid Quick Wax, fold the microfiber towel and gently wipe the spray across the surface until it is has been worked in. You don’t need to use any force as this is a superficial coat that wipes away surface debris and sits on top of any paintwork or wax coating. So it’s not only quick – it’s also effortless! Now, flip the microfiber towel to the dry side and buff the area until the desired shine has been achieved. At this stage, you can put a bit more effort in to really buff out the area to match the rest of your vehicle. But then again, it’s so effective you might well find you don’t need any effort at all!
