Welcome back to the Proje’ blog! This week, we’re going to focus on an accessory that you can’t even really see during the detailing process, but which is hugely important. Let’s take a look at our Bucket Grit Guard and why it makes such a difference.
Washing Your Car Like a Pro
First off, washing your car well is the central pillar of detailing. Most processes start with a clean, dry bodywork surface and the only way you can achieve that is by washing. Sure, other processes have a cleaning effect on your paintwork too – like ceramic detailing – but even those work better if you’ve done a good old-fashioned wash first.
But washing your car is more than just a bucket and sponge if you want to get really great results. And if you are planning on giving your car a ceramic coat down the line, having a pristine surface really is key, because otherwise, you’ll be sealing debris in between the ceramic coat and your paintwork. To really get it right, you’ll need to use the two-bucket method – and the secret weapon will be your Grit Guard.
The Proje' Grit Guard fits most 3-5-gallon buckets and is essential to prevent scratches in your paintwork when washing your vehicle. The Grit Guard traps dirt that comes off your Wash Pad, ensuring that it stays at the bottom of the bucket, so no dirt will be reintroduced into the wash solution.
As you use your Wash Pad, it removes dirt and other contaminants from the surface of your car, which need washing off. If you put the mitt back in your cleaning solution, some of these will detach from the mitt and remain in the bucket, meaning that you’re cleaning your car with contaminated solution. To avoid this, rinse the mitt off in the water bucket and give it a good rub against the grit guard to release any dirt from its clutches, leaving you with a mitt that’s ready to introduce to the cleaning solution again. Repeat this process until you have a clean car – one bucket of Vital Car Wash Soap and one bucket of water will do the trick!
