Welcome back to the Proje’ blog! Sometimes, a product is only as good as its accessories, and this is never truer than when you’re washing your car. Sure, you can cover your car in a lathering soap, then wash it away and your car will be cleaner than when you started, but there’s so much more to it than that.

The main reason is that the process of washing removes a lot of dirt from your car on the accessories that you’re using. With Vital Car Wash Soap, you’ll be using our Green Microfiber Wash Mitt, for example. Sounds like a good thing, right? Well, yes and no. Of course, it’s great to remove all that dirt from your car, but the problem is where it goes when you’ve got rid of it.

The first problem is that every time you rinse your Wash Mitt, you’re putting the dirt back into the bucket. Therefore, each time you rinse it, you’re putting old dirt back on the mitt, introducing the possibility of abrasion when you run the surface of your Mitt across the paintwork.

Now, the two-bucket wash method will get rid of most of the issue, but not entirely. To make completely sure that you aren’t introducing contaminants to the process, you need to get a Grit Guard.

How it Works

The Proje' Grit Guard fits most 3-5-gallon buckets and is an essential part of the process because it traps dirt that comes off your Wash Pad. Then, it acts as a barrier between the bottom of the bucket and the rest of the wash solution, ensuring that bits of grit and dirt aren’t reintroduced into the wash solution.

Using Your Grit Guard With the Two-Bucket Method

  • Fill a bucket with 2oz of Vital Car Wash Soap for every 4 gallons of water – this distribution ensures that the maximum amount of suds will be created. Use the Proje’ Bucket Grit Guard in your bucket before starting the cleaning process, so that all excess dirt is trapped at the bottom of the bucket and isn’t reintroduced into the wash solution.
  • Get a separate bucket with another grit guard and fill this just with water.
  • Agitate the first bucket with the soap using your Wash Pad to create super suds.
  • Now rinse the car with fresh water, then use the Wash Pad to wash the car from top to bottom in horizontal lines.
  • Each time you need to add more soap to your wash pad, first rinse it in the water bucket, so that there is no contamination of the soap bucket. Rub it against the grit guard to ensure that you completely remove any excess dirt or grit from the wash pad before putting it back in the soap bucket.
  • Once you have finished cleaning and rinsing, give your vehicle one more rinse and then use one of our 480gsm Big Giant Drying 25 x 36 Towels to thoroughly dry the paintwork.
