Welcome back to the Proje’ blog – the best place on the web to get top tips on car detailing, whether you’re a newbie, a part-timer or an experienced detailer. This week, we’re looking at the importance of being thorough when you make your product choices. There are so many different products out there for auto detailing, but not all of them are going to give you the best possible results. In fact, some are poorly-researched, untested and potentially harmful to your vehicle.

This becomes even more important when you’re applying products to your paintwork. Like the skin on our bodies, paintwork covers the largest area of a car’s body, and is the most visible – and therefore most scrutinized – part of a vehicle. It’s extremely important that anything that is coming into contact with your bodywork is high-quality, reliable and tested. And with wax, you can pretty much divide the market into two different types, each of which has its own merits – for different reasons. Let’s take a look at your two main choices.

  1. Paste Wax

For years, paste wax was the only way to go. It has always been considered the ultimate way to get that Hollywood wet look, and as such is still widely used around the world. If you’re going to choose a paste wax, you need to look for the main ingredient: Carnauba. Carnauba is naturally yellow in colour, which creates that classic shine we all know and love. A naturally occurring component of the Brazilian palm, it protects the leaves from all the elements. Brazil is known for extremes in weather, from heat to humidity and extreme downpours, but the palms survive and even thrive thanks to Carnauba. Carnauba leaves are picked and dried so that the wax can be removed in flakes, which are then expertly blended to create an automobile-friendly wax.

For a better quality paste wax, you want a higher amount of Carnauba. But this comes at a price, and while it produces exceptional aesthetic results, it takes time to apply and needs redoing relatively regularly. However, you can apply this wax by hand, using an applicator pad and being patient while waiting for each section of car you have applied the wax to, to cure and set.

  1. Liquid Wax

However, there is a newer product on the market these days, in the form of liquid wax. Liquid waxes are generally based around liquid polymers, which are synthetic and specifically designed to bond with your paintwork more effectively. This means that these types of “wax” are far more durable as well as being considerably easier to apply. As they are more modern products, they are far more technologically advanced than traditional paste waxes and these days, the best liquid products also provide a shine that is so good that it’s difficult to tell the difference between paste and liquid. When you factor in the reduced amount of time to apply these liquids, as well as the lower cost and lack of need to reapply so soon, it is no wonder that many companies are increasingly choosing these products over paste wax.

At Proje’, we believe in enjoyment as much as convenience, so we’ve gone down the liquid route with a few products that provide exceptional results. Let’s take a look at them.

Hybrid Wax Sealant

Hybrid Wax Sealant is a unique blend that gives the best protection possible to your car’s surface. This full polymer synthetic formula enhances shine and protection for every vehicle color. Hybrid Wax Sealant is special in the fact that it bonds directly with the surface creating a strong barrier against water spots, road grime, fallout and industrial contaminants for up to 12 months, so you get a great looking shine for a whole year.

Not only does our Hybrid Wax Sealant deliver depth, clarity and shine but it also conceals any swirls from water damage and minor scratches from grit or brake dust. Even better though, it fills any minor indentation from debris as you wax, so that any imperfections in your bodywork are smoothed over in one continuous, shiny finish. This is where the hybrid really kicks in though. Our Hybrid Wax Sealant doesn’t just deliver a beautiful shine; it seals your newly shiny exterior from all kinds of contamination – brake dust, excrement, water, UV rays and pollution – all for up to a year.

With this wax sealant, all you need is half an hour, an applicator pad and a microfiber towel and you’re away! Place the face of the applicator flat on the surface of the car – it is important to be as level as possible so that you transfer the Hybrid Wax Sealant in an even level fashion. Use light pressure to spread the sealant onto the surface in slow, circular patterns, then leave for a few minutes to cure as you move to the next panel or section of your car.

Rapid Quick Wax

Rapid Quick Wax utilizes advanced hydrophobic polymer technology to provide relentless water beading and water sheeting protection that lasts for weeks and even months. With its quick mist-on and wipe-off application, it makes it easy to wax your entire car in under 20 minutes. It will not stain plastic trim and is completely safe on all painted and non-painted surfaces. Rapid Quick Wax provides exceptional coverage and a thin but complete seal across your vehicle that buffs in to that classic wax shine and protects from water beading as effectively as heavy-duty paste wax, but for a fraction of the time and cost.

The best thing about Rapid Quick Wax is that you don’t need an applicator or DA polisher; you can mist it directly on to your car and then work it in with a microfiber towel.

Surge Quick Detail Spray

Surge Quick Detail Spray has been designed with efficiency and results in mind. This simple-to-use formula has been specifically developed not only to enhance shine, but also rejuvenate the existing surface, leaving behind that freshly waxed look. Surge Quick Detail Spray is a dynamic product; use it as a final wipe down or as an in-between maintenance spray to clean off light layers of dirt. It works by creating a thin protective film over your paintwork rather than a full wax coating, so that the shine is immediate and effective. As soon as you have sprayed, you can wipe and shine with no wait. Even better, as it’s a such a thin layer it works as a cleaner, meaning that you can use it straight after a full wax to wipe away any dust that might have accumulated during the waiting period mid-wax. A single wipe will quickly and smoothly remove debris, dust, fingerprints, smudges and even superficial stains, and can even be applied in the sun, making this an ideal hybrid product.

This is another one of our products that you can spray directly on to the paintwork, just like our rapid quick wax. We told you it was easy!
