Welcome back to the Proje’ blog. This week, we’re going inside the car and focusing on leather. There’s not doubt that even though new interior materials are being developed and honed all the time, leather is a classic that won’t go away. And there’s good reason for it – it feels nice, it smells nice and it’s exceptionally durable and hard-wearing. It’s the ultimate material for your couch, and it’s the ultimate for your car seats too.

But like everything else, leather needs cleaning. It can collect stains, grease, crumbs, germs and can crack and fade over time. The good news is that this can be avoided with a simple, two-step process that ensures your leather stays in fantastic condition for even longer, and you and your passengers can really relish the feel and the smell of sitting inside your car. Let’s take a look at what it takes to get your leather clean.

Cleaning

Of course, the first step is to get your leather seriously clean. But you need to do this properly – soap and water isn’t a good way to treat your leather at all. This is because residue from regular household products will stick to the leather surface, preventing it from breathing. This will ultimately cause your leather to crack more quickly, meaning it would have been better if you hadn’t cleaned it at all! You need a specialist product, designed specifically for leather. And we’ve got just the thing…

Our Alpha Interior Cleaner and Leather Cleaner has not only been designed to get leather clean in the safest way possible, but it is also extremely effective on the rest of your interior – that’s a proper two-in-one piece of value! Alpha Interior Cleaner and Leather Cleaner is made from a pH balanced formula that quickly and gently cleans all types of surfaces including leather, vinyl and plastic. It removes dirt, oil, and tough stains and grime. It’s also non-toxic and made in small batches to ensure quality and effectiveness. It will penetrate your leather and work from the inside to lift out dirt, oil and grease and preserve the quality with no residue or deterioration – and this means your leather will retain its breathability even as you clean. Better still, it’ll take dirt straight off your other surfaces too, so you can just keep using it until your whole interior is done!

To use this product, spray directly on the surface you are going to clean, and agitate the solution with an Easy Reach Crevice Brush. Our brushes are designed to remove stains while being soft enough that they will not damage the integrity of even your softest surfaces. Once you have generated a good lather, use a 2-Sided Towel to wipe away the solution. Use the microfiber side for a softer wipe, or the terry weave material side if you want to be a little firmer – both are completely safe for use on leather!

Of course, for particularly dirty or worn leather, you might want to repeat this process. You can’t cause the leather any harm from overuse, so feel free to get stuck in!

Conditioning

Wash, then protect. That’s the Proje’ way both for interior and exterior products, and leather should be no different. Our Plush Leather Conditioner binds your leather without adding a greasy film. It’s important to remember that leather is the hide of an animal. Just like we protect our own “hides” through regular cleaning and conditioning, so we need to do the same with our vehicle leather so that it remains in top-quality condition. By washing then conditioning, you will leave your leather looking and smelling fabulous. Our conditioner nourishes and moisturizes your leather, leaving it softer and less stressed after it has been bound and sealed by the leather cleaner. Not only that, but Plush Conditioner helps restore the condition of your leather even further by gently moisturising dry and worn parts of the leather that have been dried out by the sun.

To use our conditioner, the most effective course of action is to apply using our blue applicator pad. Work in a cross-hatch pattern as you apply to ensure full coverage, then wipe using the terry weave side of the two-sided towel.

And for an added bonus…

There’s nothing like the refreshing smell of walking into a space and smelling the fresh aroma of leather hide, but this smell fades over time and is replaced by the everyday odors that build up in your aging leather. You can get that smell back with our Leather Scent. Not only can you recreate a fresh smelling car, but you can also rid your car of unwanted surface odors by simply lightly misting the interior of your car whenever desired. After using Alpha Interior Cleaner & Leather Cleaner and our Proje’ Leather scent, you’ll have new-looking and new-smelling leather.

If you go through these three stages once every 3-6 months, you’ll find that your leather stays in great condition. It’ll look fantastic, feel fantastic and even smell fantastic. What more could you want?
