Welcome back to the Proje blog!
We often get asked for tips by our customers, so we’d like to share one question with you that crops up all the time: What are the best products for interior car detailing?
Now, we understand why you might ask that question – detailing can be a minefield for beginners, with a lot of products to choose from, and a lot of different product naming conventions across the different companies meaning that it takes a while to choose.
At Proje’, we’ve kept our product list short and easy to digest, with each type of product divided up on our website, into products for your vehicle exterior and interior. When it comes to interior, we’re talking about cleaning, protecting and freshening – it’s not just your car exterior that needs some TLC; after all, you sit in it!
So, without further ado, here’s our run-down of the best car interior detailing products!
- For all-round cleaning: Alpha Interior & Leather Cleaner
We’d put Alpha on our overall list of the best car detailing products. It’s versatile, effective on all types of dirt, and safe for use on even the gentlest of interior materials. But best of all, it’s quick and easy to use – you could clean the entire interior of your car in 10 minutes! We’ve designed Alpha to be brilliant against all types of dirt, oil, grease and sweat – and it also works on your vinyl dash, your plastic molding, and your seating… especially leather!
Now, leather can be prone to splitting and cracking as it gets older, which can ultimately lead to tears that mean costly replacement. But with Alpha, those natural cracks get the protection they need, which not just cleans your leather, but keeps is stronger for longer while being pH neutral and colorless so you can use it n abundance without worrying at all.
Oh, and guess what? It smells great too!
How to Use Alpha Interior & Leather Cleaner
For most of your needs, simply spraying Alpha onto a clean White Intensive 2-Sided Interior Towel and wiping the surface you’re working on will be enough. But for slightly deeper cleaning, we want to get the active ingredients working through lathering. In this case, just spray Alpha Interior & Leather Cleaner directly onto the surface you are going to clean, then agitate the solution with our Easy Reach Crevice Brush. Once you have generated a good lather, use your 2-Sided Towel to wipe away the solution. And for an even firmer wipe, use the terry weave material side.
- Benchmark Fabric and Upholstery Cleaner: Get the cleanest upholstery you’ve ever seen
While Alpha Interior Cleaner & Leather Cleaner is a great all-rounder for your interior cleaning needs, Benchmark Fabric Cleaner is specially made for fabric and upholstery cleaning – including carpets – when you really need to go the extra mile. Its unique formula makes it easy to achieve perfect results with minimal effort but it goes in hard on the worst stains, debris and odors you find in tough places like your carpets. All you need to do is spray, scrub and wipe away the dirt.
As with Alpha, the emphasis here is on diversity and ease of use. That means direct application without initial cleaning, followed by a bit of lather generation in the worst-affected dirty areas. For agitation, use our Carpet and Upholstery Brush, and a Microfiber Towel to wipe the solution away before it dries.
And remember, you can repeat this process as many times as you like – particularly if you’ve really old, or really dirty carpets!
- Genesis Glass Cleaner: Don’t forget your interior glass!
It’s easy to forget to clean the interior side of your glass, as it’s so often a process we tackle during exterior cleaning or just after washing your car. But animals, children and adults alike get their fingerprints over the interior side of their windows, windscreens and glass screen covers far more than the outside, so it’s even more important to get those smudges under control.
Genesis is another straightforward but effective, non-toxic product, so you can get great results in a few minutes without worrying about inhalation in a confined space. And with glass cleaning, the crucial thing is avoiding streaks, so that’s the main focus of Genesis.
How to Use Genesis Glass Cleaner
- Make sure you’re working out of direct sunlight, then spray Genesis Glass Cleaner directly onto the glass; two sprays per window should be enough to ensure complete coverage. For your windshield, tackle it in two sections – driver’s side and passenger side.
- Now, reach for a Diamond Window Toweland fold it in half before wipe in a back and forth direction across the glass, ensuring that you cover the surface all the way to the corners. Make sure the glass is completely dry before moving onto the next section – refold the Diamond Window Towel and repeat the procedure if necessary.
- To avoid streaks, alternate the direction in which you wipe. For interior windows, wipe in a horizontal direction.
- And for a bonus, bring back that new car scent!
If a detailing company are tackling your interior, they’ll always finish off with a scent – it’s such a pleasant thing to open your car to after a good clean. Our New Car Scent gives the natural smell of a new car without any fake chemical residue, so you’re transported back in time to when you first got your car – that smell that you can never forget. Working as a mist, it eliminates other powerful odors before replacing them with new car scent. The best places in your vehicle are under your seats and on and around your carpets, but you can spray it anywhere without the worry of any toxic inhalation or damage to your surfaces – it’s completely safe. Just a few sprays and you’ll be basking in the luxury of that new car smell once again.
