Welcome back to the Proje’ blog! Wheels are a complicated part of a car. Of course they are – they have to be incredibly durable and high-tech to withstand the forces and vibrations that go through them on a daily basis. But there’s also a lot to them that you can’t really see – the center of the wheel itself, all the way to back represents about 80% of the total wheel. You can only see 20%! This makes it the toughest part of your car to clean.

But nothing is impossible, and with the right accessories, you can make sure that trouble isn’t brewing in the deepest, darkest depths of your wheel. The secret? Picking the right brush!

The Cleaning Stage

During the cleaning stage, you want to get hold of a specialist cleaner that will give you a helping hand. Our Redline Wheel Cleaner does that by turning red when it’s done its work. But the benefits don’t stop there – while you’re using the cleaner, get to work on the inner barrels too.

The inner barrels are the deepest parts of your wheels that you will need to reach for cleaning purposes. This isn’t purely about depth though; a thin but long brush will get inside the barrel with no problem, but then won’t cover the surface area you need to get a really thorough clean. You need a brush that’s large, long and wide, and our Barrel Brush is all of those in one! Its bristles are flexible and soft enough that you can push them between your spokes without any danger of scratching, but sturdy enough that they dislodge all the build-up of oil, dirt and brake dust that sits deep within your barrels. Simply slide the barrel brush between the spokes of your rim to clean the barrels of any rim; painted, chrome or aluminum.

The Dressing Stage

Bring out the best in your tires by using our Fusion Tire Dressing but the surface of a tire isn’t the same as paintwork, so a standard applicator pad simply won’t cut it! Instead, use the tire dressing short handle brush. It’s great for shining all kind of tires and grooves when Fusion Tire Dressing is applied directly to the brush. Because the bristles are durable yet soft, they can be brought into accidental contact with rims as well as tires without causing any damage, and the short handle gives a much firmer feel and grip, allowing you to really get into the grooves with your dressing.

Then, to give everything a really good clean, get a hold of the Rim Cleaning Brush.  Its handle length means you can penetrate deep and at awkward angles, due to the head shape and design. As with the short handle brush, it is designed to be soft enough to make contact with polished and painted surfaces with no heart in mouth moments. This brush will easily navigate any OEM, custom or aftermarket wheels, as well as around calipers and behind spokes. You don’t need to use dirty old rags, and you don’t need to bend ad twist your own arm, making the process tiring and painful. As with our other brushes, this is specifically for the awkward angles, so you can get your quick, easy and painless clean. Because of the typical build-up of oil and dirt around your rims and calipers, this brush is designed to be extremely effective at removing debris, brake dust and oil.

What’s the Damage?

We’re not talking about physical damage – because there is none. All our brushes are designed to be tough on dirt but forgiving on the surfaces they come into contact with. But how much do they cost?

Barrel Brush: $19.99
Rim Cleaning Brush: $8.99
Tire Dressing Short Handle Brush: $7.99

Total: $36.97. That’s a set of wheels that’s clean, protected from harm and the envy of all your friends, for under $40! And remember, these aren’t single use: look after your brushes and they’ll last you for years!
