Welcome back to the Proje’ blog! There’s no doubt about it, when people ask us what the hardest part of a car to keep clean is, we will always say the wheel area. Why? Well, it’s simple. That’s the part of your car that’s always in contact with the ground. Add to that the proximity to debris, brake dust and other contaminants, and you can easily pick up problems if you don’t keep on top of cleaning and maintenance on a regular basis.

Now, it’s well-known that the more powerful your vehicle, the higher the temperature your brakes will reach. The force of braking at higher speeds causes a mixture of hot iron and brake dust to be sprayed all around the interior of your rims as well as the outer bodywork. A lot of the damage can go unseen for long periods of time, but these residues are highly corrosive and, if left, can cause permanent damage to paint and bodywork. The heat and speed at which these residues are spat out by modern-day powerful brakes means that embedding takes place, rendering everyday cleaning techniques useless.

But it’s not just about dirt. Wheels are complex and a lot of the dirt builds up in places you can’t really see, and that are hard to reach. And again, if you don’t keep on top of them, you’ll end up with problems down the line. That’s why at Proje’, we’ve got a whole range of products and accessories dedicated to making sure that your wheels are the cleanest around – and you steer clear of any trouble. Take a look at what we’ve got to offer, and why our wheel cleaner is the best wheel cleaner around.

Redline Wheel Cleaner

The first stop in our arsenal is our Redline Wheel Cleaner.  It’s a powerful, all-purpose cleaner that gets right in to your wheel wells to break down all the toughest build-ups of dirt, brake dust and grease or contamination caused by the breakdown of surrounding metals at high temperatures.

Redline wheel cleaner is extremely tough on embedded debris and particles, breaking down the worst of the build-up in the toughest areas to reach – the undercarriage, the brake parts and the wheel wells. The active ingredients in the cleaner neutralize any acidic presence, allowing for a smooth wipe clean and an end to any danger of long-lasting damage. With Redline wheel cleaner, no scrubbing is necessary. Once it has finished working, the sodium in the formula turns red, signalling the time to wipe it away – no scrubbing required. This means that you can easily reach in to the most inaccessible of areas and rid your undercarriage of any growing problems without breaking a sweat.

The Secondary Problem

Of course, it’s all very well having a product like Redline wheel cleaner, but it isn’t just going to work on its own. You need to agitate the liquid so that it can build up a lather and really get to work. The problem here is that household brushes and cloths aren’t going to cut it, because of the hardness of the material on your rims, and the awkward shape, with bits inside the barrel you can’t reach very easily. So, let’s start off with our barrel brush. The Barrel Brush is a big plush brush with one main use in mind, to clean the inner barrel of your rim. With is synthetic fibers and long handle it makes cleaning the hard to reach parts of your rim not only easy, but enjoyable again. Simply slide the barrel brush between the spokes of your rim to clean the barrels of any rim; painted, chrome, aluminum etc. The inner barrels are the deepest parts of your wheels that you will need to reach for cleaning purposes. This isn’t purely about depth though; a thin but long brush will get inside the barrel with no problem, but then won’t cover the surface area you need to get a really thoroughclean. You need a brush that’s large, long and wide, and our barrel brush is all of those in one! Its bristles are flexible and soft enough that you can push them between your spokes without any danger of scratching, but sturdy enough that they dislodge all the build-up of oil, dirt and brake dust that sits deep within your barrels.

But what about your tires?

Of course, it’s important to get the inner barrel clean, but let’s give the tires a really good scrub too. This is where our Fusion Tire Dressing comes in. It’s a water-based dressing infused with a specific formula to stick to your tire and not sling down the side of your car. When applied to a clean tire, this dressing will produce a great shine for multiple weeks. Fusion Tire Dressing creates a dark, uniform color while conditioning tires, and its cream formula provides smooth, even product application while avoiding messy overspray. It’s the best tire dressing we’ve come across – and we’re sure you’ll agree too.

The water base is more important than you might think. Antiozonant is extremely important for the longevity of your tires, and Fusion Tire Dressing is specifically designed as a water-based formula so as not to remove these vital antiozonants. This means that your tires will last just as long, but will have that added shine to the color of your choice when you use Fusion Tire Dressing. It is also grease-free, and completely adjustable; applying multiple coats and leaving the dressing for longer periods will produce deeper blacks, so if you prefer a slightly lighter colour to match your bodywork, then remove it after a few minutes and only use 1 or 2 coats.

To apply the dressing, you need an applicator brush. An applicator brush is extremely useful on uneven surfaces, as its sturdier bristles allow you to really get in to all the nooks and crannies. This short handle brush is great for shining all kind of tires and grooves when Fusion Tire Dressing is applied directly to the brush. Because the bristles are durable yet soft, they can be brought in to accidental contact with rims as well as tires without causing any damage, and the short handle gives a much firmer feel and grip, allowing you to really get in to the grooves with your dressing.
