Welcome back to the Proje’ blog! It doesn’t matter if it’s your first time detailing or you’re super experienced, you need to prepare the same. Remember the saying: Fail to prepare, prepare to fail! You’ve spent money on top-quality detailing products, so it makes sense to give them the maximum chance to shine – literally!

So, before you get to work, what do you need to think about? Here are our top few things to remember.

  1. Take a look outside

There are two sides to this. Sure, you need to take a peek out and see if it’s nice out. Remember not to use detailing products – particularly ceramics and polishes – in strong, direct sunlight and consider the difficulties of applying certain products while it’s raining.

But there’s more to it. Think about what season it is, or what the general weather trends are like. Summer and winter are different animals that need different types of protection to keep your paintwork safe. If it’s really hot, break out our Interior Satin Finish Protectant to seal and finish your interior vinyl and plastic, allowing for long-lasting protection from harmful rays at the same time as an attractive, natural-looking finish. In winter, give our Rapid Quick Wax a try before you venture out – for that extra layer of paintwork protection. Alternatively, check out our Ceramics Range to find out about how you can use the professional approach to detailing from the comfort of your home.

  1. Check your equipment

The best way to make sure you’re ready to go is to have a handy set of checklists so you know what you need before you get going. There’s nothing more disruptive than having to stop mid-process and you certainly don’t want to find that you’re missing something entirely – especially not if you’ve already applied a specific product to your paintwork!

Our go-to checklists include the following:

  • Microfiber towels – remember to keep towels separate for separate tasks. It’s always good to buy plenty then, with the right care, they’ll last for ages
  • Applicator – check out our Blue Applicator Pad
  • Brushes – detailing brushes come in lots of shapes and sizes to ensure you can get a range of jobs done with the minimum of fuss
  • Checking we have enough of the product we want to use left, and ordering more if not!
  1. Think about time

Detailing is flexible; it can take as much or as little time as you want it to, depending on the product, the process and the levels you’re willing to go to. We’ve got plenty of products that are developed for speed without compromising on quality. Our Surge Quick Detail Spray, for example, works by creating a thin protective film over your paintwork rather than a full wax coating, so that the shine is immediate and effective. As soon as you have sprayed, you can wipe and shine with no wait. This isn’t cutting corners – it’s taking advantage of a diverse product range that’s aimed at real-life work schedules. Or, our SiO2 quick coat, which is a long-lasting, tough product designed to give you three benefits in one – clean, shine and protect. Why not check them out?

But above all, the most important thing about time is not letting yourself get stressed out. There are no products in our range that need for you to feel under pressure. Relax, go with the flow and if you think you don’t quite have enough time – wait until you do. We’re all about enjoyment, relaxation, and ease of use at Proje’ – don’t forget it!
